Climate Change Investment Awards

Future Fuels, our renewable energy project, will fund the building of a £160 million bioethanol plant in Grimsby, North East England. On completion, the plant will produce 200 million litres of sustainable ethanol each year, delivering carbon savings of over 60% when compared to traditional fossil fuels. Through its bio-refining process, the plant will also produce 175,000 tonnes of high-protein animal feed and liquefied CO2 for use in carbonated drinks.

This is a proudly British project, using British wheat (which is only suitable for animal consumption) in meeting UK renewable energy targets.


  • Future Fuels LLP

    A socially responsible investment product that funds the development of a UK based Renewable Transport Fuel (RTF) refinery that will be operated and managed by Vireol Ltd, offering a projected investment return of over 30% per annum.

  • Old Burlington Investments Renewable Energy Fund

    Offers investors the potential to generate returns from a portfolio of renewable energy and energy efficiency investments.

    This fund focuses on stable technologies, durable revenues from state backed Feed In Tariffs (FITs), Renewable Energy Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and equivalents, and on long term output arrangements with reputable counterparties.

    This fund follows a conservative investment strategy seeking medium-term growth prospects and has a core strategy of only working with leading renewable energy asset managers.

    Initially Old Burlington Investments is working with Bluefield Partners LLP, a leading UK solar PV specialist that works closely with institutional as well as private clients. Bluefield team members have participated in over £17 billion of energy and infrastructure transactions, including £250m of European and UK solar PV assets during and prior to Bluefield.
